‘I wanted to attend Criw Celf to learn new things. Each artist has been generous with their time and passing on their specialist knowledge - it’s been a privilege to work with them. All of the artists we worked with seemed to bring not only their skills, but their values, too.’ - YP
Criw Celf is a creative programme for young people aged 11-18 with an interest in the visual arts. The project boosts young people’s artistic skills, knowledge and confidence as well as encouraging creative careers. Crow Celf introduces groups to artists, makers, designers and creative industry professionals through inspirational workshops, studio, gallery visits, talks etc. Artists and young people work collaboratively, alongside each other. The programme has a focus on developing critical thinking skills and creative problem solving. Strategic engagement, paid bursaries and working in partnership ensures YP who don’t easily access these creative opportunities can take part. Artists who deliver on the programme have a wide range of lived experience, which supports widening awareness to rurally-based young people. YP on Criw Celf go on to volunteer, have paid opportunities in Peak’s programme. Artists have included: Ella Gibbs, Andreas Ruthi, Helen Mears, Susan Adams, Tessa Waite, Paul Granjon, Sean Edwards, Lucy Dickson, Morag Colquhoun.
‘Criw Celf was an important part of my teens - it’s what made me think about my path and how I really wanted a creative career. The support over the years was incredible, and for that I am really thankful. I met some of my best friends, who I would otherwise not have known.’ - YP
